DangersSummer gets very hot and into the 90's in Colorado, even up on the mountain roads. Afternoon thunder storms are common and there is always the chance of heavy rain or snow with debris being washed onto the road. The high altitude may also present issues so be prepared for any weather and the need to drink plenty of water. We have had deer hit riders in the past, cattle in the road and dropping bikes on hairpin bends occurs frequently.
Sunrise is around 6am and sunset a little after 8pm giving over 14 hours of daylight riding time.
The event will not be cancelled due to weather.
- Registration is now open for 2025.
NAVIGATION: While the route will be supplied as a GPX file created using the Calimoto navigation app, signal will drop out along some roads and canyons. Therefore, riders should familiarise themselves with the route in plenty of time before setting off.
Certificates of completion will only be given to riders that followed the route exactly.
